1. The UV rays are strongest between 10am & 4pm
Check the strength by using the shadow test: if your shadow is shorter than you are, the sun’s rays are at their strongest! Staying in the shade is the best way to steer clear of the harsh sun.

2. Sunscreen Expires!
On average, sunscreen lasts between 2-3 years. Especially if it has been exposed to heat (i.e. glove box or car trunk), it may be less effective.

3. Choose “Broad Spectrum” Protection!
This label means that is protects against both UVA and UVB rays!

4. Ingredients Matter!
Make sure your sunscreens include active ingredients such as zinc and titanium.

Let’s Learn The Basics: Skin Care 101

Our skin is the largest organ & is constantly changing!
It consists of three main layers:

epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous

These layers are made up of various inner appendages that contribute to your skins overall function. Healthy and beautiful skin begins deep within these layers and it is crucial for you to take care of your skin through the use of wholesome products and proper maintenance. When the natural skin barrier is disturbed, its protective functions and appearance are compromised.

As our skin loses moisture and elasticity, it will look and feel more dry, rough, and cracked. However, damage done to the uppermost skin layer can heal without scarring. Alternatively so, if damage reaches the dermis and an inner layer is affected, then scarring is more likely to occur.

You can help just by going through your clothing and donating things you have not worn recently. Give yourself a rule of thumb, donate anything that you have not worn in the past year. Donating clothing will help the homeless, as well as other disadvantaged people who cannot afford new clothing. Let’s make a difference, together.
